I finally made a Treasury on Etsy! I’d always wanted to but never bothered.

Well, inspiration struck at 4 a.m. the other morning. When I saw this pendant by CameraSHYphotography, I found my theme: The Eastern Shore.

I grew up on the Shore, also known as the Delmarva Peninsula. Let me know what you think of the Treasury! Clicky-clicky to see it.

Oh, and if you like Treasuries (I can look at them for hours), these three include some of my items on Etsy. Hurray!

After I ate a mushroom omelette last week at a diner, the waitress left the bill on the table. This sounds like a boring story — but wait!

I looked down and saw “mushroom owl,” but it really said “mushroom oml” in her old-lady handwriting. My partner drew this up on the back of the placemat, and I knew I had to make it! Plushie fun. 🙂

The drawing that started it all.

Wow. Sometimes you don’t realize how much weird crap you find in one place until you look back on your photos from seven months ago …

Did I smudge my eyeliner?

Seven months ago, I was at a mall in Frackville, Pa. (I am not making this up. Frackville.) I was there with some friends to check out Black Diamond Antiques.

And I scored! Black Diamond was fantastic. Got a 1940s Royal typewriter, a little ashtray with a deer sitting on its ledge and a button pin that says something like, “Buckle up. Save Your Ugly Face.”

We didn’t even make it through half of the store before it closed. So I really want to go back! So many treasures waiting to be discovered.  So many creepy things hidden away in dark corners …

Humpty Scary! Why is his head shaped like that? Why is one cheek punched in? Why is he grinning like he's going to kill me?

My pals and I figured this lady head must teach people how to shave. Maybe she was used at barber school? At first, I thought it was some weird serial killer thing, though. Yikes.

What do you think lady head No. 1 (pictured at the top of the post) is all about?

{Once again, thanks for the pics, Ainslie!}

Scribbly semicolon mug. New in my Etsy story.

It may seem silly to paint a mug in the middle of summer, but then again I can’t say I’d ever turn down a fresh cup of coffee, no matter what time of year.

The thought of mixing hot coffee with hot weather always makes me think of my Gran. I remember her sitting on her front porch in the most ridiculous summer heat. Southern summer heat, too. So you bet it was humid. But Gran would be sipping on a hot cup of coffee — black, just the way she liked it. Sitting there in her white wicker chair (and perspiring quite a bit), she’d declare she could feel a nice breeze coming through — couldn’t you feel it?

I called my Gran at the nursing home one Thursday in May. It was the last time I would speak to her; she passed away three days later. That afternoon was very warm, but Gran was about to drink a cup of coffee. Hot, she said. She didn’t want it cold; she wanted it hot. As hot as they could get it.

Makes perfect sense to me.

A detail shot of my latest knitting project:

Are your retinas burning yet?

I know you’re thinking, “What the hell kind of color is that?” (Or maybe you’re nice. Or, perhaps you think I’m being creative here.)

Well, it doesn’t matter what the hell kind of color it is ’cause I’m knitting to SAVE THE LITTLE ANIMALS!

I am making cloths that will be used to clean animals affected by the oil spill in the Gulf. I found out about this project via Craft Hope, a site where you can get crafty and help out little animals, good causes and such. Check it out!

Oh, and as for the funky yarn  — I made more of my T-shirt yarn, some out of an obscenely bright-colored T-shirt.

Here, look at this. It will help you get the burning image out of your head.

This cool flower is right next to my driveway, so I snapped a few photos of it today. Looks like more of them are going to bloom soon.

Also, a random note: I’m going to start a blog feature, “Weird Crap I Found at the Flea Market.” YAY! It will include random photos of odd things I find while thrifting and antiquing, too. Kind of like those creepy clown masks from last summer.

But, I’ve got better stuff to show you! First post of weirdness next Monday! Bwhahaha!

I’m in the process of updating my Etsy, and it’s going to carry on tomorrow because I’m off to a birthday movie! (Not my birthday. I’m not much on movies. However, I am quite happy with popcorn.)

Until then,

Girl Scout badge pins!

A cat in a cup! (Vintage)

Tree pins!

I have a boatload of buttons (pins) to still list. Tons more Girl Scout badge pins, which were super fun to make. Let me know what you think!

Also some punctuation items on the way as soon as I get good pics! Woo!
